Windows Print Spooler Server Vulnerability
Notice Date: July 1, 2021 / Alert Type: Security
A recent patch update released by Microsoft has been found to have a critical vulnerability that could allow a malicious actor to exploit the print spooler function on Windows servers. Below is a summary of what you need to know:
- Microsoft is working on releasing a patch to permanently fix this issue.
- Until the patch is released, we will roll out a temporary fix on July 1, 2021 that will lock down access to vulnerable components.
- There is a risk that this fix might impact printing functionality for certain types of printers that are mapped through a server.
- If you do experience printer issues please contact our Live Desk team at 612-454-4879 or email [email protected] so that we can address individually.
As always, security is at the forefront of our planning. The temporary fix we have identified is a better solution then leaving the print spool vulnerability open.
