IT Advice for Small-Midsized Businesses
When interviewed by CRN for the award, Guru Keith Schoolcraft shared his knowledge and insights into the market and small businesses managed services needs.
Keith’s advice to business owners includes:
- Don’t wait to take action on your IT security: Responding to a breach and then addressing issues is like closing the barn door after the horse gets out. Midmarket CIOs often make the mistake of being lax in taking action on IT security or waiting until a security incident occurs before addressing issues.
- Rely on IT experts: Most small to midmarket businesses try to do too much on their own regarding IT. There comes a point in a company’s growth when it is no longer cost-effective or smart to DIY IT. Know when to call a managed services provider to ensure your systems run smoothly and securely.
- AI has value, but it won’t replace you: The most value midmarket CIOs can see from implementing AI initiatives is in making their effective people more effective. In other words, AI can make people more efficient, but it cannot replace good people on your team. So use it to enhance productivity, but don’t expect it to make ineffective people effective!
